Gary Linn Welbourn

Gary L. Welbourn age 72, of Lakewood, Colorado passed away peacefully at home
on March 9, 2023.
Gary is survived by his wife, Teresa, his children Ronni Welbourn, Dana (Jared)
Berg, Shayne (Christen) Dudley, Cori (Mike) Holloway, 17 grandchildren, 7 great-
grandchildren, brother Greg (Kimberly) Welbourn, sister Pam (Huck) Kogar and
several nieces and nephews.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Betty Welbourn and his sister,
Linda.
Gary was born January 6, 1951 in Atlantic, Iowa to Herbert and Betty Welbourn.
Growing up in Des Moines, Iowa, Gary had a passion for baseball and played Little
League and continued to play through high school. He loved visiting the Lake of
the Ozarks in Missouri where he learned to fish. Gary graduated high school in
1969.
Soon after completing high school, Gary received a job with the North Western
Bell phone company. He transferred to Mountain Bell in 1978 and after 44 years
of service, he retired from CenturyLink in 2016.
After retiring, Gary’s passions became fishing and camping. He spent as much
time as he could on a lake. When he wasn’t on a lake, he could be found in his
favorite recliner cheering on his favorite Denver sports teams – the Broncos,
Avalanche, Rockies, and Nuggets. He loved them all.
To honor Gary’s wishes, in lieu of a traditional funeral service, his family will hold
an intimate celebration of life in coming days.
Gary will be missed but his memory will live on.
