Larry Raymond Oliver, 87, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 in Denver, CO.
Larry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His many friends will attest to his loyalty and sense of adventure. He was passionate about hunting and had an impressive collection of elk, moose, and deer antlers to prove it. A true outdoorsman, Larry appreciated nature like none other. He visited nearly all of the 50 states and all the bodies of water that surrounded them, pulling three-foot tuna out of the Baha peninsula or king salmon out of Lake Michigan. In his later years, it was his garden that gave him great joy. His wife of 26 years, Lechrista, kept up with canning his bountiful tomato harvest and his pickles were legendary. Larry enjoyed garage sales, fishing, snowmobiling, and spent many years during deer hunting season at his comfortable "lodge" in Wakefield, MI.
He joined the Masonic Lodge in 1961 and was a Life Member. He served as Worshipful Master in the Solar Lodge #592 F. & A.M. in Saginaw, MI in 1974. He was a proud member of the U.A.W., retiring from Delphi in 1999. Larry was also a licensed pilot for many years and enjoyed farming. Prior to moving to Colorado, he lived for many years in both Frankenmuth and Vassar, MI.
Larry was born on August 15, 1936 in Mount Morris, MI to William and Beulah Oliver. He is survived by his wife, Lechrista, and by his children, Beverly (Al) Karis, Sherry Oliver, William (Sheila) Oliver, Patricia (Dan) Scully and daughter-in-law Mary Oliver. He was a wonderful stepfather and was loved dearly by his stepchildren Lechrista Ozzello and Mark Yatchak.
Larry left behind 10 grandchildren, Christine (Christopher) Deming, Melissa (Dave) Limbaugh, Elizabeth (Bill) Bray, Jason (Angie) Oliver, Jacob (Kimber) Hartwick, Ryan Miller, Madeleine (Dan) Craig, Nicholas (Rachel) Oliver, and Siobhan and Michaela Scully and step-granddaughter Danielle Kukuczka-Ozzello. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, Chloe and Carter Hartwick, Layla Oliver, Delaney Limbaugh, Alexis, Brooklynn, and Jaxon Bray, Carson and Maddox Oliver, Jackson Craig and step-great-grandchildren Aria and Stuart Limbaugh and Ivahn Zuchowski-Ozzello. Larry leaves many cherished nieces and nephews and special friends Shannon Ozzello, Norman Bixby, Norman and Chic Cechini, and Jerry Anderson.
